Terms and Conditions
Gym facilities are for over 16’s only. Student's Pay As You Go gym rates are for 16 and 17 year olds and gym usage is allowed until 9pm Monday to Thursday, 7pm Fridays and 5pm at the weekends and Bank Holidays. Proof of age required. Anyone under the age of 18 are not allowed to use free weights at any time until they have been shown by one of our gym instructors first. All Cardiovascular equipment and set weight machines are permitted if you are under 18.
If any recurrent card payment are returned from your bank as unpaid, you must pay the amount owed to us in person plus a €10 administration fee.
Proof of age will be required to purchase all 16+, Student’s, Jobseekers and OAP memberships. We will accept birth certificate, passport, age card or valid student card as proof of age.
Pay As You Go Users and Members are not permitted to use the sauna/steam room facilities while there is a private or school booking in the pool.
A valid and current student card with photograph will be required for student memberships.
The membership and membership card can only be used by the named person(s) on the completed application form. Anyone found to have breached this rule will result in the immediate cancellation of the membership without refund.
Lost membership cards of broken ones will be replaced at a cost of €5.00. If your card is faded it will be replaced free of charge once the damaged card is handed in to reception.
All members consent to having a photograph taken in reception to accompany their membership records for verification purposes only. Birr Leisure Centre will only use personal information and photographs in accordance with the Data Protection Acts, 1988 & 2003.
OAP memberships are for customers aged 60 years or older.
Lifeguards and gym instructors’ instructions to be followed at all times.
Swimming rings are not permitted in the pool unless fitted with an internal seat.
No cameras, photographic equipment, outdoor footwear, food or beverages allowed in the pool area.
Non-swimmers should wear a buoyancy aid and stay within their own depth.
A health screening form must be completed before joining as a member using the centre.
Staffs on the day of your visit must be made aware of any health problems before using the facility.
Memberships can be frozen due to illness, however, any illness must be certified by a doctor.
All memberships are non-refundable. If, for a medical reason, membership can no longer be continued and the membership needs to be changed to another person, it will be at the discretion of management, and there will be an amendment charge.
If you have any existing medical conditions such as diabetes, epilepsy, heart conditions, asthma, or are pregnant, or on medication, please inform a member of staff.
Membership card or the QR Code attached to your account which can be found in our App must be produced on each visit, and all members must sign in on every occasion of the use of the facilities.
Hats must be worn by all at all times in the swimming pool. Appropriate swim costumes must be worn in the pool, sauna and steam room. We strongly advise all customers to wear flip-flops or other suitable foot protection in the changing rooms and pool area.
Swim nappies must be worn by all children who are not fully toilet trained.
Snorkels, flippers, masks and t-shirts are not permitted.
Customers are asked to shower before entering the pool and use a towel to wipe down machines in the gym after use.
Appropriate footwear and attire must be worn in the gym.
Membership valid only during public sessions in the pool.
Birr Leisure Centre accepts no responsibility for any belongings or personal items lost, stolen or damaged on the premises. It is the responsibility of each person to place all personal items in the lockers provided. Personal belongings found will be placed in lost property for seven days.
Persons under 11 years of age must be accompanied by an adult in the water with them at all times. Persons under 11 years of age not using the pool facility must also be accompanied by an adult over 18 at all times in all areas of the facility. There is no exception to this rule under any circumstances. Under no circumstances can infants in carrying seats be left unattended on the pool deck or in the viewing area.
No running, jumping, diving or acrobatics are permitted in the pool area.
Swim sessions start on the hour and operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Preference will not be given to members over non-members if a session is busy.
Membership does not include the cost of lessons or classes.
Public swim times vary regularly, and it is up to each customer to familiarise themselves with the swim timetable available in reception or on our website. Management reserves the right to alter the pool timetable at any time.

Management reserves the right to refuse admission.
The use of razors is not permitted anywhere within the Birr Leisure Centre building.
Photography or filming cannot be taken anywhere in the building to protect the privacy of all our customers.
PLEASE NOTE: Birr Leisure Centre will consider all Memberships and Pay As You Go sold as acceptance by the Member/Customer of these Regulations.
1. Gym users must be aged 16 yrs or older.
2. All users will be required to sign in at Reception.
3. Gym Only Pay as you go are not entitled to use the Swimming Pool or Health Suite.
4. Use of the Fitness Gym and its equipment is entirely at the individual's own risk.
5. All users are obliged to notify Birr Leisure Centre of any injuries or pre-existing medical conditions, as well as any change in status that may occur overtime.
6. All new gym users are advised to have an induction with an instructor before using any gym equipment.
7. All users must notify themselves of the correct operation of all equipment and placement of emergency stop buttons, if applicable, before attempting its use.
8. Birr Leisure Centre advise all users to drink water during exercise and to “warm up” and “cool down” appropriately.
9. Appropriate footwear and clothing must be worn at all times.
10. All gym users are required to carry a hand towel with them.
11. All equipment must be wiped down after use by the Customer, using the disinfectant and paper towels provided to ensure hygiene & long-term maintenance of equipment
12. If patrons notice faulty or damaged equipment, they should notify a member of staff.
13. Gym users are not permitted into the Fitness Office unless a staff member is present.
14. Shouting and/or the use of inappropriate language is not acceptable.
15. Gym users are requested not to drop or bang weights during use.
16. All equipment such as dumbbells, weight plates, and free weights must be returned to their proper place by the customer after use.
17. Gym users are requested to allow other users to use resistance machines between sets.
18. All accidents and incidents must be reported to Reception immediately.
19. No food, chewing gum, or glass containers are permitted.
20. Absolutely no spitting is permitted on the premises.
21. Inappropriate use of mobile phones, cameras, or recording devices are not permitted. See photography & videography guidelines for details.
22. All litter, paper towels, and disposable bottles must be placed in the bins provided.
23. Gym users must store their valuables in the lockers provided.
24. Use of fitness studio is only permitted outside of scheduled class hours and/or private bookings.
25. Sparring/MMA/Combat sports are not permitted in the fitness studio under any circumstances.
26. Use of class speaker is permitted, but music must not be disruptive. Studio sound system is out of bounds to everyone except staff.
27. Personal training is only permitted with Birr Leisure Centre trainers. Any member found personal training will have their membership cancelled with immediate effect. 28. Outside parties are not permitted to practice on these premises.
29. Management reserve the right to amend and change rules at their sole discretion.

PATRONS MUST CO-OPERATE WITH BIRR LEISURE CENTRE STAFF AT ALL TIMES

1. Swim hats are compulsory in all pools for all users.
2. Children aged eight and under must be constantly supervised by a responsible adult
(16+) while using the facilities.
3. A maximum of 2 children aged eight and under are permitted entry with one adult.
4. Children under 5yrs must be within arms’ reach, and children under 10yrs clearly and
constantly visible and directly accessible.
5. For pool hygiene and member safety, children of nappy wearing age must have a swim nappy on while using the Pool and change the nappy immediately when used.
6. For pool hygiene, all members and guests must shower before using the pool, spa,
steam room and sauna.
7. Any child that is six years of age or older must get changed in the appropriate changing
room and be accompanied by an adult.
8. No glass bottles on the pool side
9. Prescription goggles only in the Pool (No Glasses)
10. We reserve the right to temporarily restrict entry to all areas when necessary, for safety reasons.
11. You must be aged 16 or over to use the Health Suite (Sauna, Steam Room or Jacuzzi).
12. You must wear a conventional swimming costume, i.e. No swimming in underwear or
clothes that are not designed for swimming.
13. You must not run, jump or dive in the pool area.
14. Washing, shaving etc. are not allowed in the pool area.
15. Oils and lotions are not allowed in the Spa, Steam Room or Sauna.
16. Food is not allowed to be consumed in the pool area except in the viewing area.
17. Members must vacate the building no later than the official closing time.
18. During School and Private hire of the swimming pool, the changing room downstairs
and the pool area are closed to all members and customers.
19. Private Swimming Lessons is only permitted with Birr Leisure Centre Instructors. Any member/customer found doing private lessons will have their membership cancelled or asked to leave with immediate effect. Outside parties are not permitted to practice on these premises.
20. No cameras or mobile phones which possess photographic functions, are to be used in areas that clearly marked by signage at any time i.e. (Changing areas, showers, toilets
etc.)
21. Permission must be agreed in advance by management for any other photographic
equipment to be used in the Centre.
22. No cameras or mobile phones allowed onto pool deck unless it is used for medical
reasons but permission much be agreed in advance by management.

24. Management reserve the right to amend and change rules at their sole discretion.
